A happy ending for Petal

Petal, daughter of Noelle, was born in our rescue in late February along with her brothers, Bud and Leaf.Petal and Lucy

This past Saturday, Petal found her forever home with James and Amanda!  James and Amanda’s pig, Lucy, was looking for a friend after the passing of their beloved Daisy.  We talked about several single female pigs, scheduled a day for dating, and crossed our fingers!

Turns out we didn’t need to do much finger crossing.  Petal scooched right over to Lucy and snuggled down.  Lucy was pretty patient with the tiny interloper, and they were soon sharing carrots and veggies together.  (Well, Lucy was sharing — Petal was eating right out of her mouth!)  After a quick cage cleaning, both girls went in, noshed on some pellets, and fell asleep inside their towel tents.

Thanks to Amanda and James for offering our Petal such a wonderful forever home!  Also for not letting me steal Lucy who is adorable and puffy and likes to give kisses!

Lucy, your parents, James and Amanda, must be special humans because you could not have reached your full potential and become a calm and tolerant piggie-girl otherwise. You are obviously a very special girl if you can make Jenn (who has her pick of every litter and, at last count, had 75 picks!) want to take you home!

Petal- be a good girl and grow up to be like your new big sister. You have been truly blessed with this happily-ever-after home.

Thank you for your kind words. Lucy is an absolute doll of a piggie that we have been working with for a little less than a year. When we adopted her, she was scared of everything. She is an absolute sweetheart now.

Jenn, you are welcome to come see Lucy and Petal and get kisses whenever you want.

Petal is doing well. Lucy and she are already bonded to each other. They won’t eat veggies unless the other one is around. Petal had a burrowing problem so we rearranged the cage setup so she could not burrow anymore. Petal is slowly but surely warming up to us. She even sits still for lap time now and takes veggies out of our hands. We absolutely adore her and so does Lucy.
